Article VI. Withdrawal and Disqualifications
Defines grounds, procedures, and consequences for candidate withdrawal and disqualification in student elections.
Withdrawal. A candidate who has filed a Certificate of Candidacy may withdraw the same by submitting to the office concerned a written declaration under oath.
Section 2.Failure to Assume Office. The office of any official elected who fails or refuses to take his oath of office within two (2) weeks from his proclamation shall be considered vacant, unless said failure is for a cause or causes beyond his control.
Section 3.Disqualification. Any candidate who has been declared by the Student Government Commission on Election, or has been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude, or violates the Election Code shall be disqualified from being a candidate and from holding any office, unless the candidate can prove that he/she is innocent.
The Student Government Commission on Election shall formally release the final decision for disqualification cases within twenty-four (24) hours upon receipt thereof.
