Article XI. Deferment of the Election
Specifies the conditions and formal process for deferring or postponing scheduled student elections.
Section 1.
The USG Election will undergo deferment upon encountering a certain event that might affect the University and its stakeholders such as:
- Catastrophic events - any event or force of nature that has catastrophic consequences, such as earthquake, flood, forest fire, typhoon, lightning, tornado and volcanic eruption.
- Rise of contagious disease - when a new disease first emerges wherein the government lacks the resources and medical expertise to counter the same resulting in lockdowns and closure of business transactions; examples are rapid spread of the disease between people, across communities and around the world. Without a natural immunity to fight off an illness, many people can become sick as it spreads.
- Terrorism threat - threats that have brought about a large-scale loss of life, the destruction of property, widespread illness and injury, the displacement of large numbers of people, and devastating economic loss.
The enforcement of the conduction of postponement and rescheduling of the election shall be endorsed by the Student Government Commission on Election upon the approval of the University President, in line with the Constitutions and bylaws of the USG.
Section 3As not to impede the services of USG and LSG Officers to the NEUST students, the incumbent elected officers shall continue their tenure as Officer-in-Charge until the conduct of election scheduled by the NEUST Student Government Commission on Election.
